Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q:  What is "CSA" and is it right for me?

A:  CSA stands for "Community Supported Agriculture", or sometimes called "farm shares." Our CSA members sign up in advance to receive a share of the harvest during the growing season. This advance commitment to the farm gives us, your farmers, the ability to better plan our growing season and necessary farm investments. In exchange, our members have a close connection to your food, where it comes from and their farmers.

Our happiest CSA members are those who enjoy cooking. We pay special attention to creating "well-balanced" shares to make sure our members receive a variety common produce items. We provide a newsletter each week with cooking and storage tips, and recipes to help you get the most out of your shares. Our newsletters also contain information about what is happening around the farm each week and updates about farm events through out the season to help members stay connected.

Q:
Why is supporting a local, family-scale farm important?

A:  By supporting a local, family business you are also supporting your local economy and strengthening the resiliency of our regional food system. Your support also helps us to protect our shared natural resources and to create a brighter future for family-scale agriculture.  Finally, we've farmed this historic farm for over 10 years, and your support allows us to continue to produce your food ethically, honestly and responsibly.

Q:
How do I sign up for a CSA share?

A:  Signing up for our CSA program is simple!

  • Step 1. Find a pickup location that’s convenient for you.
  • Step 2. Choose the type of farm shares you'd like to receive, how often you’d like to receive (weekly or every other week) and the seasons you'd like to join us (spring, summer, fall or all season).
  • Step 3.  Submit your order online and you will receive an automatic confirmation email.
  • Step 4.  Prior to the start of your shares, you will receive an informational email. This email will confirm your registration details, pickup time and locations and provide information on how to pick up your shares.
  • Step 5.  Enjoy your shares and as always please let us know if you have any questions!

Q:  Do you offer any payment options?

A:  Yes!  We accept all major credit cards, including Discover and American Express.

While some members choose to pay for their shares with a single payment, others choose to pay in multiple installments. All shares priced at $200 or more can be paid for in 3 installments. Here's how it works:

A 2% processing fee will be added to the cost of your share, and the total will be divided into 3 equal amounts. The first amount will be charged to your credit card at checkout. The second amount will be charged to your credit card 2 months from the day you register. The third and final amount will be charged to your credit card 4 months from the day you register.

Q:  I don't use credit or debit cards, but I'd like be a CSA member.  Are there any options for me?
A:  Yes!  We value your membership.  Please contact us directly and we can assist you further.

Q:  Can I visit the farm?

A:  Yes!  We host events throughout the season to allow our members ways to spend time at the farm. We keep our CSA members informed on events through our newsletters and our events page.

Q:
Can I volunteer on the farm?

A:  Yes!  In collaboration with the Liberty Prairie Foundation, we offer the Gleaning Program.  Gleaning is a great way to volunteer and to increase access to fresh healthy foods those who need them most.  We'd welcome you to experience our farm through a gleaning harvest!  Please visit http://libertyprairie.org/calendar/gleaning/ to learn more.
